Steward / Kitchen Porter (Zero-Hours)

Reports to: Chef de Partie

What will I be doing as a Steward / Kitchen Porter?

You will carry out all duties within the Stewarding Department and associated back-of-house areas, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety expected within a 5-star luxury hotel. You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining operating equipment, china, glassware, kitchen utensils, and work areas while supporting the kitchen team in delivering exceptional service.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and distributing operating equipment for service, functions, inventories, and other operational requirements.
Washing, polishing, and storing china, glassware, cutlery, kitchen equipment, and cooking utensils to the required standards.
Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, workstations, floors, walls, ceilings, extraction systems, and food preparation areas before, during, and after service.
Emptying bins, sorting waste, and disposing of refuse in accordance with hotel procedures.
Cleaning and disinfecting refuse storage areas and waste equipment.
Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods and banquet operations by ensuring a continuous supply of clean equipment.
Cleaning and maintaining the staff canteen, replenishing food supplies, beverages, and condiments as required.
Reporting damaged equipment or maintenance issues promptly to the Head Chef or appropriate manager.
Attending training sessions and departmental meetings as required.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment while following all Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.

Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter, Steward, or within a hospitality environment is preferred.
A positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
A commitment to maintaining exceptional hygiene and cleanliness standards.
