Job Overview

A brand-new Indian takeaway is opening in Woodford in the coming weeks, and we're looking for experienced Main Indian Chefs and Tandoori Chefs to join our team.

This is the second branch of a well-established and popular Indian takeaway from the North of England. We are looking for passionate, hardworking chefs who want to grow with the business, contribute their own experience and ideas, and learn our proven recipes and systems.

Main Indian Chef

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic British Indian takeaway dishes, including Chicken Tikka Masala, Bhuna, Korma, Madras, Balti, Jalfrezi, and other popular curries and sauces.
Ensure every dish is prepared to a consistently high standard of taste, quality, presentation, and portion control.
Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and training where required.
Assist in planning daily food preparation and ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.
Monitor food production to maintain consistency and minimise waste.
Ensure all food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety, hygiene, and HACCP regulations.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety throughout the kitchen.
Assist with stock control, inventory management, and ordering fresh ingredients when required.
Work closely with management to maintain quality standards and contribute ideas for new dishes and menu development.
Ensure all customer orders are prepared accurately and delivered within service time targets.

Tandoori Chef

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook authentic tandoori dishes, including Chicken Tikka, Lamb Tikka, Tandoori Chicken, Seekh Kebabs, Onion Bhajis, Naan breads, and other traditional starters.
Confidently operate and manage a traditional tandoor oven while maintaining consistent cooking quality.
Prepare marinades, doughs, and ingredients to company recipes and specifications.
Ensure all tandoori dishes meet high standards of flavour, presentation, and portion consistency.
Maintain excellent food hygiene and cleanliness within the tandoori section at all times.
Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality standards.
Assist in supervising junior kitchen staff working within the tandoori section.
Monitor stock levels and report ingredient requirements to minimise shortages.
Follow all food safety and health & safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Support the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations and an excellent customer experience.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience in an Indian takeaway or restaurant is preferred.
Strong knowledge of British Indian cuisine.
Reliable, hardworking, and able to work under pressure.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Team player with good communication skills.
Passion for producing high-quality food.
