Deputy Nursery Manager

Reports to: Manager

Job overview

What is the purpose of the job?

The role of the Deputy Nursery Manager is to provide professional leadership and management of the nursery, to effectively manage the day-to day running of the nursery and to deliver the highest standards of care and education.

You will hold a full and relevant qualification in Early Years at Level 3 or above, understand and ensure the requirements of the EYFS and Ofsted are met and have experience working in a busy nursery setting in a management position.

Requirements

Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
Two relevant satisfactory references
Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
Valid Paediatric First Aid Certificate

To support the Manager in all aspects of Nursery matters
To implement and promote all Joyful Tots policies and the Staff Rules
To manage the nursery in the absence of the Manager
To ensure the ethos, implementation and legal requirements of the EYFS are met
To train the team in providing quality care for their key children
To ensure children’s safety at all times
To form positive relationships with children and their families
To display a high level of enthusiasm, loyalty and motivation
To provide daily support for the management team
To contribute to the implementation of changes and future developments
To manage, supervise staff in line with the policies and procedures at all times
To maintain a professional manner at all times
To provide a good role model for your team and others in the nursery
To provide mentorship for your team
To ensure that nursery records are kept honestly and accurately
To care for and supervise the group of children assigned to them
To carry out the duties of a Key Person
