Job Title: Health, Safety, and Quality (HSQ) Assistant Manager

Reports To: Head of SHEQ
Location: Stackright
Job Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

The Health, Safety, and Quality (HSQ) Assistant Manager supports the HSQ Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring systems to ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards ( ISO 9001, ISO 18001, ISO 45001). This role acts as a key point of contact for operational safety, conducting audits, facilitating training, and driving a proactive safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Auditing: Assist in maintaining ISO accreditations and ensuring adherence to legislative requirements and approved codes of practice. Conduct internal audits and inspections of workplaces, equipment, and materials.
Risk Management: Assist in creating, reviewing, and updating Risk Assessments (RA), Method Statements (MS), and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
Incident Investigation: Actively participate in investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses, facilitating root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Training & Induction: Deliver QHSE inductions for new employees and create training materials (e.g., toolbox talks) on safety and quality procedures.
Quality Assurance: Monitor operational quality standards, ensuring products/services meet customer requirements and non-conformances are managed.
Reporting & Data Analysis: Collate and analyze health, safety, and quality performance data, producing monthly reports to identify trends.
Operational Support: Work closely with site teams to identify improvements in processes and build strong, collaborative relationships across all levels of the business.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: Previous experience in a technical, quality, or health & safety role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Qualifications: IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards) is highly desirable.
Knowledge: Good understanding of ISO 9001 (Quality)18001 Environmental and ISO 45001 (Safety) standards.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and deliver presentations.
IT Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Attributes: Highly organized with strong attention to detail, capable of prioritizing workloads in a fast-paced environment.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Reduction in workplace incidents and near-misses.
Completion rate of scheduled site audits.
Upkeep of company accreditations to gold standard.
Timely closure of non-conformances (NCRs) and incident actions.
Percentage of staff trained in required safety inductions.

Pay: Up to £19.46 per hour
