About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced deputy manager to join our residential care home management team.

The successful candidate will work closely with the registered manager to ensure the home provides high-quality, person-centered care while maintaining strong standards of safeguarding, compliance, staff development, and service delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced team leader care professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and develop their leadership and management skills.

Key Responsibilities

As Deputy Manager, you will:

Support the registered manager in the day-to-day management of the care home.
Ensure residents receive safe, person-centered, and high-quality care.
Lead and support care staff to deliver consistent standards of care.
Assist with staff recruitment, induction, training, and supervision.
Monitor staff performance and identify training and development needs.
Support the development and review of care plans, risk assessments, and support plans.
Ensure medication procedures are followed safely and appropriately.
Monitor and maintain accurate care documentation and records.
Support safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.
Promote residents' dignity, independence, choice, and rights.
Support Positive Behavior Support (PBS) approaches where applicable.
Assist with audits, quality monitoring, and compliance checks.
Support investigations, complaints, and incident management.
Ensure policies and procedures are followed by all staff.
Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, social workers, and other external professionals.
Assist the registered manager with CQC compliance and inspections.
Take responsibility for the home in the absence of the registered manager.
Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive culture within the home.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced within residential care, adult social care, or a similar setting.
Confident in a leadership or senior care role.
Passionate about delivering person-centered care.
Able to lead, motivate, and support a care team.
Highly organized with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Confident using digital care management systems and maintaining accurate electronic records.
Confident dealing with safeguarding, incidents, and challenging situations.
Knowledgeable about care planning and risk management.
Able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and professionals.
Committed to maintaining high standards of care and compliance.
Flexible and willing to work as part of a management team.
Professional, reliable, and compassionate.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in adult social care.
Previous experience in a senior care or supervisory role.
Good understanding of person-centered care.
Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management.
Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
Good computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to maintain accurate records and complete care documentation.
Ability to lead and support a team.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and bank holidays where required.
Right to work in the UK.
Relevant care qualification, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care or willingness to work towards it.

Desirable Skills

Previous deputy manager or team leader experience.
Experience working in a residential care home.
Experience with CQC-regulated services.
Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
Experience with Positive Behavior Support (PBS).
Experience supervising and developing care staff.
Experience with medication management.
Experience using electronic care management, HR, or rota systems.
Good Excel skills, including maintaining spreadsheets, monitoring information, and preparing basic reports.
