Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food preparation, and a comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations. As a vital part of our organisation, the Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen activities, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety, and supervising kitchen staff. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career progression within a professional hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations.
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance monitoring to ensure efficient operations.
Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen activities.
Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery and timely serving of dishes.
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste through effective stock management.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned regularly to uphold health standards.
Foster a positive team environment that encourages professional development and teamwork.

Experience

Proven supervisory experience within a busy culinary environment, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
Extensive background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management.
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
Experience with food production processes, menu development, and serving procedures is highly desirable.
Previous restaurant experience is essential for understanding operational demands and customer service expectations.
