Full job description

About the Role

We’re looking for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at Twenty-Two 22.

We’re an independent restaurant serving creative tapas and small plates, brunches and Sunday roasts, with a focus on great ingredients, bold flavours and food people want to come back for.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants more than simply following a spec. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and management team, with the freedom to contribute ideas, develop dishes and help shape our menus.

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
Leading the kitchen and service in the Head Chef’s absence
Preparing and delivering our tapas, brunch and Sunday roast menus to a consistently high standard
Contributing to new dishes, specials and seasonal menu development
Organising prep and ensuring the kitchen is ready for busy services
Leading, supporting and training the kitchen team
Maintaining high standards of presentation, portioning and consistency
Supporting stock management, ordering and deliveries
Helping control food costs, portioning and waste
Maintaining excellent food hygiene, allergen and cleaning standards
Working closely with FOH to ensure smooth service
Helping create a positive, professional and enjoyable kitchen environment

Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from an experienced chef ready to step up, or an existing Sous Chef looking for their next challenge.

You’ll be:

Confident in a busy, fresh-food kitchen
Passionate about food and excited by menu development
Creative and willing to bring your own ideas
Organised and calm under pressure
A strong communicator and positive team leader
Reliable, proactive and willing to take ownership
Knowledgeable about food hygiene and allergens

Most importantly, we want someone who cares about the food, the team and helping us continually improve.
