Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a resilient, highly technical Production Manager to lead our high-volume manufacturing facility based here in the Midlands. This strategic leadership role focuses on optimizing shop floor operations, coordinating multi-shift handovers, and driving continuous improvement. Our facility currently operates on a continuous 24-hour, 5-day schedule, with active planning underway to scale into a full 24/7 operation.

You will manage overall plant performance by directing crew workflows, tracking raw material analytics, maintaining strict structural quality standards, and ensuring zero downtime. The ideal candidate brings deep technical literacy, strong crew leadership under tight deadlines, and the strategic agility to help transition our plant smoothly into a round-the-clock 24/7 manufacturing schedule.

24/5 to 24/7 Shift & Operational Management

Oversee daily production schedules across complex day, night, and rotating shift patterns.
Manage flawless shift handovers to guarantee zero loss of momentum or safety communication between crews.
Design and implement the operational workflows, staffing rosters, and safety protocols required to transition from a 24/5 to a 24/7 footprint.
Track batch inventory levels of raw materials via ERP systems to prevent critical stockouts that halt continuous operations.

Team Supervision & Heavy-Industry Safety

Directly supervise and mentor Shift Supervisors and Machine Operators.
Enforce zero-tolerance safety policies, ensuring absolute compliance with heavy-industry PPE requirements.
Oversee comprehensive training programs regarding machine safety, operational efficiency, and waste reduction.
Manage shift attendance, performance reviews, and conflict resolution across a multi-shift workforce.

Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight

Enforce rigorous quality controls to ensure all products meet structural, industrial, and construction safety codes.
Analyze production data to identify, isolate, and log defective batches to find root causes and minimize scrap costs.
Ensure total compliance with Health and Safety regulations at all times.
Implement predictive maintenance workflows to ensure downtime is prevented at all costs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience: 4+ years in heavy manufacturing (construction materials, concrete, steel, or plastics), with 2+ years supervising multi-shift operations.
Continuous Operations: Proven experience managing within 24/5 or 24/7 continuous-run production environments.
Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical plant systems and advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP inventory software.
Environment: Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, high-volume industrial environment.
Shift Flexibility: Willingness to support a varied 24-hour cycle schedule, including occasional night or weekend oversight during peak transition phases.

The hours of work will be Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, however flexibility in these hours will be required to support the business.

Salary is £40,000-£45,000 per annum dependant upon experience.

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
