Full job description

At Capital Fire Doors, based in Croydon we’re hiring an Accounts Assistant to join our expanding finance team on a Part-time basis. Initially you’ll work 2 days per week, ideally Monday and Wednesday along with covering annual leave/sickness so flexibility is required.

Previous experience within an accounts or finance environment is essential. If you believe you have the skills, organisation, and willingness to learn and succeed, we want to hear from you.

You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the finance department, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently. A key part of your role will involve processing invoices, maintaining financial records using Sage 50 Accounts, supporting accounts payable and receivable functions, and reconciling bank statements and supplier accounts.

You will also assist with month-end procedures and reporting, handle finance-related administration duties, and communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders when required. This is a role that requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, accuracy, and the ability to work effectively within a busy and fast-paced environment.

Here’s a look at some of the things you’ll be doing:

Assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks including data entry, invoice processing, and maintaining accurate financial records using Sage 50 Accounts
Supporting accounts payable and receivable functions while reconciling bank statements and supplier accounts
Assisting with month-end procedures, reporting, and general finance administration duties
Communicating with internal teams and external stakeholders while supporting the wider finance function in a busy environment

Can you show experience in some of these areas:

Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy, with good organisational and time management skills
A willingness to learn and develop within an accounting role, alongside a proactive and positive attitude
Basic understanding of accounting principles and experience or familiarity with Sage 50 Accounts would be advantageous
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word, with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
