Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Legal Cashier to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your accounting expertise within a dynamic legal environment, supporting the firm's financial operations efficiently and accurately. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with prior experience in legal or accountancy settings.

Responsibilities

Manage and process accounts payable and receivable transactions promptly and accurately
Reconcile client accounts and maintain detailed financial records in accordance with firm policies
Prepare and submit financial reports, ensuring compliance with legal standards
Utilise accounting software and the firms case management system
Prepare bank reconciliations, petty cash management and VAT returns
Ensure all financial activities adhere to regulatory requirements and internal controls
Liaise with external auditors, clients, and suppliers regarding financial matters
Maintain organised documentation of all transactions for audit purposes

Skills

Proven experience as a Legal Cashier or in a similar accounting role within a legal or professional services environment
Proficiency in accounting software
Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and financial reconciliation techniques
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Familiarity with legal finance regulations and compliance standards is advantageous

This role is ideal for candidates who are meticulous, proactive, and eager to contribute to the smooth financial operation of a reputable legal practice.
