Senior Residential Support Worker

Location: Oldbury

Pay: £15.00 – £16.00 per hour + £70 per sleep-in

Senior Residential Support Worker

At Keystone Children's Services Ltd, our focus is to create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where children and young people can rebuild trust, develop resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker who understands the complexities of working with children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new organisation committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred care within an Ofsted-regulated children's home.

About the Role

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in leading shifts, supporting your colleagues, and ensuring the home provides a safe, caring, and structured environment where young people feel valued, listened to, and empowered to reach their full potential.

You will build positive, trusting relationships with young people while promoting their emotional wellbeing, independence, and personal development. You will work in partnership with the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, families, and external professionals to ensure every child receives the highest standard of care in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.

This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, support the development of staff, and provide consistent care and guidance to children who have experienced trauma and adversity.

Shift Pattern

Senior Residential Support Worker

7:00am – 10:00pm, including sleep-in shifts where required.

Sleep-in payment: £70 per sleep-in.

What You Will Be Doing

Leading shifts and creating a warm, safe, structured, and nurturing home environment.
Supporting the Registered Manager and stepping up to manage the home in their absence.
Acting as a positive role model and providing guidance, mentoring, and support to Residential Support Workers.
Building meaningful, trusting relationships with children and young people.
Supporting young people to regulate emotions, develop independence, and build essential life skills.
Promoting positive behaviour through therapeutic approaches, consistency, understanding, and clear boundaries.
Acting as a Key Worker for allocated young people and contributing to care planning and review meetings.
Supporting young people with education, health appointments, hobbies, independence skills, and meaningful activities.
Administering and recording medication in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Completing accurate daily records, incident reports, body maps, risk assessments, behaviour records, and care plans.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times, reporting concerns appropriately and following safeguarding procedures.
Working collaboratively with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, families, and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations, the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
Contributing towards a positive team culture focused on achieving excellent outcomes for children and young people.

Our home has been recently refurbished to a high standard, providing a calm, welcoming, and therapeutic environment for both young people and staff.

High-quality sleep-in facilities are provided, and we are committed to creating a positive workplace where staff feel supported, valued, and able to develop professionally.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is experienced, compassionate, resilient, and committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people.

You will have:

NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential).
NVQ Level 4 or Level 5 qualification (desirable).
A minimum of 12 months' experience working within an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home.
Experience leading shifts and supporting staff.
A good understanding of safeguarding legislation, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
A calm, resilient, and child-centred approach.
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
A full UK driving licence.
Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in shifts.
