Job Introduction

Administrative Assistant

Salary - £25,583 - £25,989 (Grade 3)

Hours - 37

Contract type - Full time, permanent

Work Style - Fixed: permanent council location

Are you organised, customer-focused, and highly attentive to detail?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Administrative Assistant to support the delivery of a full range of administrative and clerical services that are essential to the effective day-to-day operation of our Fleet Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and professional environment where your organisational skills and attention to detail will play a key role in supporting vital frontline services across Wolverhampton.

About the Role

As an Administrative Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative support within a fast-paced fleet environment. Your responsibilities will include:

Raising official purchase orders and sundry debtor invoices.
Checking invoices against orders and preparing them for payment within agreed timescales.
Investigating supplier statements and resolving discrepancies.
Processing journal transfers and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responding to customer and supplier queries in a professional manner.
Ensuring records and data are accurately maintained and updated.
Supporting the effective administration of Fleet Services operations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience working in an administrative or customer service-focused environment.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Good oral and written communication skills.
The ability to accurately record, maintain, and manage data.
A customer-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
The ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload effectively.
Strong organisational and planning abilities.

The annual pay increases for 2026/27 for NJC Local Government Employees are currently being negotiated and, once agreed, will be effective from 1 April 2026.
