Sous Chef – The East Kent, Whitstable

£35,000 per year + tronc + real progression opportunities

The East Kent is looking for a talented and ambitious Sous Chef to join our kitchen team in Whitstable.

We are an independent pub focused on high quality food, proper hospitality, and building one of the strongest gastropub food offerings in the area. Our menu has quickly built a reputation locally for being creative, fresh, and genuinely well executed and we are now looking for the right chef to help take it even further.

This is a serious opportunity for someone who wants to work under and learn from one of the most talented Head Chefs in the area. We are not looking for someone who just wants to “do a job” we want someone passionate about food, standards, and progressing their career within a strong kitchen environment.

What we’re looking for:

Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous ready to step up

Passion for fresh food and high standards

Someone calm under pressure with strong organisational skills

A team player with a positive attitude

Creativity and attention to detail

Someone who genuinely wants to learn and improve

The role will include:

Supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations

Helping lead and motivate the kitchen team

Maintaining consistently high food standards

Stock control and ordering support

Assisting with menu development and specials

Ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and compliance across the kitchen
