Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician / Assistant Workshop Manager to join our dynamic team. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related systems, alongside assisting in workshop management duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, be proficient with diagnostics, hand and power tools, and demonstrate leadership potential. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their technical skills within a professional environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines and associated components with precision and efficiency.
Utilise hand tools and power tools to carry out various tasks such as removal and refit of diesel engine components.
Assist in organising workshop workflows, ensuring timely completion of jobs.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each task.
Support the workshop manager in overseeing daily operations, including safety compliance and inventory management.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Contribute to training junior team members and sharing technical expertise as required.

Requirements

Proven mechanical knowledge related to diesel engines and heavy vehicle systems.
Experience with hand tools and power tools essential for repair tasks.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Previous experience in a workshop environment is mandatory; relevant training will be provided for suitable candidates.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and clients.
A valid UK driving licence is essential.
