Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Garden Centre Cafe Cook/Cafe Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a vibrant environment where you can develop your culinary skills and contribute to providing a welcoming experience for our visitors. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and serving in a busy café setting, ensuring high standards of food safety and customer service are maintained at all times.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of food items according to established recipes and standards
Assist with meal preparation, ensuring timely delivery of orders during busy periods
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Serve customers efficiently and courteously at the counter or table
Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth café operations
Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper food handling and hygiene practices
Support the team in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and customers
Assist with general café duties such as clearing tables, washing dishes, and cleaning work surfaces

Skills

Experience in food preparation and cooking within a café, restaurant or hospitality environment
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
Good organisational skills with an eye for detail in meal presentation and cleanliness
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers
Previous experience in serving or customer service roles is advantageous
A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills in culinary arts
