Full job description

Main Purpose of the Job

Dealing with customers and using computers to aid sales and other transactions, providing an excellent service to the local community and visitors and maintaining the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.

Summary of Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Selling stamps and weighing/charging for letters, packets and parcels.
Dealing with a range of financial services, including banking, foreign currency, a variety of insurance products and travel services.
Accepting payment for a wide variety of bills, such as electricity, gas and water bills.
Issuing vehicle tax and dealing with motor vehicle registrations.
Dealing with passport and driving licence applications.
To have, or be able to develop, a thorough knowledge of all the products this post office provides.
Promoting and selling products on offer.

Educational Qualifications

5 GCSE’s grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent NVQ or relevant experience.
Commitment to further professional development where required.

Communication Skills

Excellent oral, written and email communication skills, including an ability to relate to, and communicate with councillors, staff, public and external agencies.
Ability to communicate information to a wide range of audiences.
Knowledge and Experience
Experience of working in a face-to-face customer service environment.
Experience of cash handling.
Experience of working with a wide range of people.

Skills

A good eye for detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
A strong commitment to achieve targets.
An ability to work under pressure with changing priorities and timescales.
Ability to take the initiative and devise creative solutions.

Information Technology

IT literate with experience and practical ICT skills including in Microsoft Office packages and spreadsheets, social media and the internet.

Other

Ability to operate with complete impartiality in a political environment.

Pay: £13.05 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 – 20.0 per week

Work Location: In person
