Full job description

Position: Park Ranger

Location: Telford Street, Newport, NP19 0ES
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 2+ Months
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £12.71 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct daily visits to playgrounds and leisure facilities managed by Newport City Council
Carry out risk assessments and safety inspections in line with European Safety Standards EN1176
Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of parks and recreational facilities
Open and close facilities as required
Maintain the security of buildings, parks, and associated areas
Liaise with facility users to ensure safe and effective use of amenities
Maintain high standards of cleanliness across facilities and public areas
Monitor visitor behaviour and promote a safe and respectful environment
Undertake basic gardening and grounds maintenance in parks and open spaces
Assist with the preparation and clean-up of organised events
Complete and maintain records of statutory testing within council buildings
Operate and maintain the splash park in accordance with operational procedures and risk assessments
Follow health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment
Undertake mandatory training and participate in ongoing professional development

Requirements:

Essential:

Good standard of general education
Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a play environment
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong team-working skills
Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual and outdoor duties
Flexible approach to working hours to meet service requirements
Commitment to training, personal development, and continuous improvement
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain accurate records
Good time management and reliability
Ability to be assertive and deal confidently with the public when required
Operational Playground Inspectors Qualification
Current First Aid certificate
Previous experience in a similar environment
Experience in manual handling tasks
Understanding of a range of sporting and recreational activities
Welsh language skills
