Full job description

Location: Mansfield
Hours: Full-time | Monday to Friday with flexibility for shifts, weekends and on-call duties as required

Key Requirements

We are looking for an experienced and passionate residential childcare professional who is committed to delivering exceptional care and positive outcomes for children and young people.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or Children & Young People’s Workforce
Previous experience working within residential childcare
Strong understanding of Ofsted standards, safeguarding procedures and Children’s Home Regulations
Full UK Driving Licence
Experience supporting or leading staff teams within a care setting
Ability to manage complex behaviours and promote positive outcomes

The following would also be advantageous:

NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Children’s Residential, or currently working towards it
Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within a children’s residential home

The Role

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help lead and support the staff team while ensuring the home remains compliant, safe and child-focused at all times.

You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting staff development and creating an environment where children and young people can thrive emotionally, socially and practically.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
Lead, supervise and support staff to maintain high standards of care and practice
Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures and Children’s Home legislation
Build positive and meaningful relationships with children and young people
Support the management of complex behaviours using therapeutic and positive behaviour approaches
Monitor and maintain high-quality care planning, risk assessments and record keeping
Participate in audits, monitoring and reporting processes to support continuous improvement
Attend and contribute to reviews, meetings and multidisciplinary discussions
Support staff training, development, supervision and performance management
Work collaboratively with local authorities, healthcare professionals, education providers and partner agencies
Assist with recruitment, inductions and wider people management responsibilities
Participate in the on-call rota across homes within the organisation
Support the home in preparing for Ofsted inspections and Regulation 44 visits
