Full job description

We are seeking a professional, friendly, and highly organised Receptionist to be the first point of contact for pupils, parents, staff, and visitors. This is a key role within the school, ensuring the smooth daily operation of the reception area while maintaining a calm and positive atmosphere.

Hours, Salary & Benefits:

Hours: Monday and Tuesdays, 8 am to 6 pm term time only. 20 hours per week.

Salary: £10,800 pa

Main Responsibilities:

Act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and external stakeholders, always providing a professional and welcoming service
Manage incoming calls, emails, and general enquiries efficiently
Maintain a tidy, organised, and secure reception area
Assist with general administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and correspondence
Support the school office with admissions enquiries and routine communications, maintaining accurate records and update school database as required, including pupil attendance registers
Ensure all visitors sign in and adhere to safeguarding procedures, e.g. issuing visitors badges.
Support the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
Coordinate deliveries, post, and courier services
Provide first aid support if trained (training can be provided)
Assist staff and pupils with day-to-day enquiries
Support school events and activities where appropriate

Person Specification:

Previous experience in a receptionist, or administrative role is preferred but not essential
Experience working in a school or educational setting, is preferred but not essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confident, professional, and approachable manner
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
Friendly, welcoming, and approachable
Reliable and punctual
Discreet, with the ability to maintain confidentiality
Proactive and able to work independently
A genuine interest in working within a school environment
