Full job description

Daniel Housing Support CIC is looking for a highly organised, reliable and detail-oriented Revenue Assistant to join our housing team.

The Revenue Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and monitoring of income generated through our housing services. This includes managing invoices, maintaining accurate financial spreadsheets, tracking Housing Benefit payments from local authorities, monitoring service charge payments from residents, and ensuring that all income is recorded correctly and on time.

This is an important role within the organisation, helping us maintain accurate financial records, identify outstanding payments and ensure that income due to Daniel Housing Support CIC is received and properly accounted for.

The ideal candidate will be confident working with numbers and spreadsheets, have excellent attention to detail, and be comfortable communicating with local authorities, residents and internal teams to resolve payment queries.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, issue and manage invoices for housing-related charges and services.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date spreadsheets tracking invoices, payments, outstanding balances and income received.
Monitor Housing Benefit payments from local authorities and ensure payments received are accurately recorded against the correct residents and properties.
Track expected Housing Benefit payments and follow up with local authorities where payments are delayed, missing or incorrect.
Monitor service charge payments from residents and maintain accurate records of amounts due and amounts received.
Identify outstanding service charge payments and provide regular updates to the housing and management teams.
Maintain accurate records of rent, Housing Benefit, service charges and other housing-related income.
Reconcile payment records against invoices and spreadsheets, identifying and investigating discrepancies.
Check that payments received correspond with the correct invoice, resident, property or account.
Liaise with local councils, Housing Benefit departments and other relevant organisations regarding payment queries and outstanding amounts.
Communicate with residents regarding service charge payments, invoices, account queries and outstanding balances in a professional and respectful manner.
Keep clear records of all payment enquiries, correspondence and actions taken.
Produce regular income and payment tracking reports for management.
Assist with forecasting expected income by monitoring upcoming Housing Benefit and service charge payments.
Ensure financial information is entered accurately and maintained consistently across relevant systems and spreadsheets.
Maintain well-organised financial records and supporting documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
Work closely with the housing and finance teams to ensure that income information is accurate and up to date.
Highlight any significant payment delays, discrepancies or outstanding balances to the appropriate manager.
Maintain confidentiality when handling residents' personal and financial information.
Carry out other reasonable administrative and financial duties as required by Daniel Housing Support CIC.

Essential Skills and Experience

Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Strong numerical and administrative skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
Ability to organise and maintain financial information clearly and systematically.
Experience managing invoices, payments, financial records or similar administrative processes.
Ability to track multiple payments, invoices and accounts simultaneously.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Confident communicating with local authorities, residents and external organisations.
Good telephone and email communication skills.
Ability to identify discrepancies and follow up issues until they are resolved.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
High level of professionalism, reliability and confidentiality.

Desirable Experience

Experience working within social housing, supported housing or housing management.
Experience tracking Housing Benefit or local authority payments.
Knowledge of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit or other housing-related benefits.
Experience monitoring rent or service charge payments.
Experience using accounting, finance or housing management software.
Previous experience working within a charity, CIC, supported accommodation provider or other social-purpose organisation.
