Night Delivery Driver & Operations Assistant

Progression to Assistant Manager

Location Colchester, Essex - with travel to London and surrounding areas

Hours Sunday night to Friday morning, starting at 11:00pm until the work is completed

Salary From £36,000 per year - higher starting salary negotiable for relevant experience

We are a well-established, family-run wholesale meat business based in Colchester, proudly serving our customers since 2007. Over nearly 20 years, we have built our business around quality, reliability and personal service, and we are continuing to grow.

We are now looking for the right person to become a key part of that growth. This is not just another driving job. It is an opportunity for someone who wants a long-term career, wants to learn the wider business and has the ambition to progress into an Assistant Manager role.

The successful candidate will work closely with management and gradually take on more responsibility for the day-to-day operation, helping to free up senior management to focus on developing and growing the company.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on position combining delivery driving, warehouse and loading duties, customer service, administration and operational support. Accuracy, reliability and the ability to use your own initiative are essential.

Start from our Colchester unit at approximately 11:00pm, Sunday night through to Friday morning.
Drive to London to collect additional products that we do not hold in stock, collate orders and complete deliveries.
Load and unload meat products from the van; the role involves regular manual handling and lifting.
Check stock loaded onto the vehicle against invoices before leaving.
Check deliveries and paperwork accurately at each customer drop.
Prepare clear and accurate handwritten invoices and complete paperwork to a high standard.
Use a calculator confidently to add up invoices, check figures and ensure totals are correct.
Speak confidently with customers in person and over the telephone, dealing with queries professionally.
Take and place customer orders when required.
Assist with administration and provide cover during holidays or absences.
Learn key operational and administrative processes with a view to taking on greater responsibility over

time.

About You

A full UK driving licence.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Confident producing handwritten paperwork and invoices accurately. Comfortable checking figures and totals using a calculator.
Reliable, organised and able to work accurately without constant supervision.
Strong attention to detail, particularly when checking stock, invoices and deliveries.
A confident and professional communicator with good customer service skills.
Comfortable speaking to customers on the phone, answering questions and taking orders.
Physically able and comfortable with regular manual handling and lifting.
Willing to use initiative, learn different areas of the business and take responsibility.
Looking for a genuine long-term career rather than simply another driving role.

The aim is for the successful candidate to develop into a trusted senior member of the team, with the potentialto progress into an Assistant Manager position and take on greater responsibility as the company continues to grow.
