The Kirkstyle Inn and Sportsmans Rest.

We are a country pub in the heart of Northumberland with fantastic views over the Knarsdale Estate and the River Tyne. The original pub has been lovingly refurbished to a very high standard. We have been awarded 2AA Rosettes, are in the Michelin guide of recommended Restaurants and have been nominated for numerous awards.

Finding the right person.

To assist the Restaurant Manager in the smooth running of the restaurant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, keen individual who can manage our extensive wine list of over 300 Bins, serve exceptional food to a high standard, lead from the front and train junior staff. This role is ideal for someone ambitious and passionate about good food and wine, and who wants to progress in the industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibility of the wine list. Keeping it up to date. Storing Correctly. Ordering stock. Liasing with suppliers. Serving correctly. Making recommendations. Decanting.

Opening and Closing The Restaurant

Staff Recruitment, Training and Retention

Answering Customer Questions and Resolving Conflicts

Assisting with restocking Produce and Equipment

Inform the kitchen team of any guest’s food requirement.

Ensure that the back of house is clean/clear at all times.

Excellent hospitality skills

Flexibility concerning schedule

Fluency in English

Pleasant personality and positive attitude

Presentable

Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality or restaurant industry
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, catering, bartending, and food safety
- Familiarity with wine regions, varietals, and pairings
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
- Certification or training in sommelier studies is desirable but not essential

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £30,000.00 per year
