Chef de Partie / Sous Chef (Summer Contract – Immediate Start)

Temporary Summer Position with Potential for Permanent Employment

Are you a passionate chef looking for an opportunity to develop your skills, work with fresh ingredients, and be part of a supportive, family-run team?

We are looking for an experienced Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef to join us for our busy summer season. This is initially a temporary position, but for the right person there is genuine potential for a long-term role within the business.

About Us

The Brook Inn is a well-established, family-run village pub and restaurant located just outside Ipswich in Washbrook/Copdock. We pride ourselves on producing high-quality, freshly prepared food using local ingredients wherever possible.

Our menu focuses on traditional British pub classics, complemented by regularly changing seasonal specials that allow our chefs to be creative and showcase new ideas.

We have built an excellent reputation for both our food and customer service and are looking for someone who wants to be part of that success.

The Role

You will work closely with our Head Chef and kitchen team, assisting with:

Fresh food preparation
Service during busy lunch and evening periods
Maintaining high food quality and presentation standards
Stock rotation and kitchen organisation
Contributing ideas for weekly specials and menu development
Supporting the team in delivering excellent customer experiences

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and progress their career in a professional kitchen.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Cook, or Junior Sous Chef
A genuine passion for food and hospitality
A positive attitude and strong work ethic
Ability to remain calm under pressure during busy services
Willingness to learn, develop, and take on new challenges
Creativity and enthusiasm for trying new flavours and dishes
Good communication and teamwork skills
Reliable transport and the ability to travel to our rural location

Competitive pay: £13–£16 per hour, depending on experience

Probation Period
