Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced bench joiner / carpenter to take responsibility for the assembly and preparation of joinery prior to installation.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident in hanging doors, fitting locks and ironmongery, and assembling high-quality timber products. You will play a key role in ensuring all items are fully prepared, functional, and ready for smooth installation on site.
You will also act as a quality control checkpoint, ensuring all moving parts operate correctly and meet our standards before leaving the workshop.
For the right candidate, there is clear progression into a senior or supervisory role within the workshop as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Hanging doors accurately within frames
- Fitting locks, latches, keeps, and full ironmongery sets
- Installing door furniture including handles, hinges, and security hardware
- Shooting in sash windows to ensure smooth operation and correct tolerances
- Pre-assembling windows and doors ready for installation
- Glazing units and fitting glazing beads where required
- Checking alignment, operation, and overall quality before dispatch
- Supporting installers by ensuring all items are site-ready
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace
- Assisting with general workshop workflow and production targets
Requirements
- Strong experience as a bench joiner or carpenter
- Proven experience hanging doors and fitting ironmongery
- High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining standards
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow workshop processes
- Ability to read drawings and work from specifications
- Previous experience in a workshop environment preferred
