Full job description

Job Purpose

Are you looking for a role where you can act as a positive role model and mentor? Greenleaf Homes is seeking a resilient, dedicated, and proactive Support Worker to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in providing emotional and practical guidance to young people, helping them build life skills, navigate challenges, and transition into independent adulthood within a trauma-informed framework.

Key Responsibilities

Mentorship & Rapport: Build trusting, professional relationships with young people, acting as a consistent and reliable figure in their lives.
Safeguarding: Actively promote the protection and welfare of young people in your care.
Crisis Management: Support young people through complex issues including trauma, mental health, and self-harm with a calm and grounded approach.
Advocacy: Empower victims of exploitation or abuse by helping them access specialist services and support networks.
Life Coaching: Promote healthy routines including fitness, nutrition, and hygiene and coach residents on budgeting, education, and employment.
Operational Excellence: Maintain accurate records of progress and incidents in compliance with Ofsted guidelines.
Team Collaboration: Contribute to a high-performing multidisciplinary team through meetings, supervisions, and professional development.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

Resilience: The ability to remain composed and effective during high-pressure or crisis situations.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage young people from diverse backgrounds.
Digital Literacy: Competent in IT for report writing and risk assessments.
Integrity: A non-judgmental, empathetic attitude and a commitment to safer recruitment standards.
Experience: Minimum 1 year in a social care, youth work, or support setting.
Eligibility: Legal right to work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship at this time).

Desirable:

NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
Experience working with male asylum-seeking young people/care leavers.
Knowledge of Ofsted standards for supported accommodation.
Background in sports coaching, youth mentorship, or mental health first aid.

Contract & Benefits

Location: Residential home (In-person)
Education: A-Level or equivalent preferred.
Contract: Bank/Zero-hour (with a clear pathway to a possible full time/part time contract following a successful 3-month probation).
