Full job description

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting a Nursery Assistant to join our team. This will be a permanent position- 40 hours per week. The successful applicant will join an established team and will support the delivery of high-quality childcare, fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about child development and eager to contribute positively to children's learning experiences.

Responsibilities

Deliver outstanding care that promotes the welfare, safety, and development of every child.
Observe, assess, and record each child's progress, producing accurate observation reports and identifying any developmental concerns.
Build positive, caring, and respectful relationships with children, supporting their emotional, social, and educational development.
Prepare learning environments before children arrive in accordance with daily plans and maintain clean, organised rooms throughout the day.
Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children by following safeguarding procedures, completing daily safety checks, and carrying out risk assessments.
Assist with the preparation and supervision of snacks while promoting healthy eating and good hygiene practices.
Support the planning and delivery of stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourage learning through play.
Participate in nursery events, open days, educational trips, and other activities that enhance the children's experiences.
Attend staff meetings, room meetings, and contribute positively to team discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Complete all mandatory training and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain high standards of practice.
Maintain accurate records and comply with nursery policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Essential:

Must hold a level 3 qualification in childcare.
Valid driving licence is essential for supporting nursery outings or transportation needs.
Passion for working with young children and supporting their learning and development.
Caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
Ability to observe, assess, and record children's progress accurately.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

Desirable

First aid trained.
Child Protection trained
