Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook/Chef to join our care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety are maintained. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary talents in a dynamic environment, contributing to the overall dining experience for our Residents. The ideal applicant will have experience in food preparation, excellent cooking skills, and a strong understanding of kitchen safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a diverse range of meals following specified recipes and presentation standards
Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times
Assist in menu planning and ingredient sourcing where required
Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to management
Adhere to food safety standards, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and meal presentation
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous

This position is for 3 days per week, including alternate weekends.

Shifts are:

08:00 – 14:00, or
09:00 – 15:00

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
