Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Junior Sous chef with a real passion for food to join our team. Cripps and Co are renowned for cooking over fire and using French Rotisseries. The ideal candidate will have excellent kitchen skills, and a keen eye for detail. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional hospitality environment. We offer a great work life balance, straight shifts and plenty of down time in the quieter months.

Duties

Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs
Support the team in maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
Help with organising ingredients, supplies, and kitchen equipment
Participate in food plating and presentation to ensure visual appeal
Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen during service hours
Supervise junior staff and trainees as required, fostering a collaborative team environment
Ensure all kitchen areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health regulations
Assist in managing stock levels and ordering supplies when necessary

Skills

Proven experience in food production, cooking, or kitchen environments
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Previous supervisory or team management experience is desirable
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively during busy periods
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide junior team members
Experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is advantageous
Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards customer service and teamwork
