Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Café Assistant to join our cafe/chip shop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service within a vibrant café setting, ensuring customers enjoy a memorable experience.

Duties

Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee and tea, adhering to quality standards
Assist with food preparation and frying up to a high standard
Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and equipment
Ensure compliance with food safety standards at all times
Serve customers in a courteous and professional manner
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
Handle cash transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system
Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service

Requirements

Previous chip shop/cafe experience is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is preferred
Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment is desirable
Basic maths skills for handling cash and processing transactions confidently
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends if needed
