Do you enjoy preparing delicious, home-cooked meals and take pride in maintaining a clean, organised kitchen? Palace House Nursing Home is looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Cook to become an important part of our kitchen team.

At Palace House, you'll play a vital role in enhancing our residents' daily lives by preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals in a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment.

460 Padiham Road, Burnley, BB12 6TD

Pay:
£12.50 per hour (Self-Employed)

What You'll Be Doing

Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious, home-style meals for our residents.
Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, cutting, and cooking ingredients.
Prepare salads, desserts, and other meal components to a high standard.
Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety regulations.
Wash and store kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment correctly.
Receive, sort, store, and rotate food supplies appropriately.
Clean kitchen equipment, preparation areas, work surfaces, and floors.
Dispose of waste safely and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
Organise kitchen linen and laundry as required.
Follow HACCP guidelines, food hygiene regulations, and infection prevention procedures.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure residents receive high-quality meals every day.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working as a Cook or within a kitchen environment is preferred.
Good home cooking skills and confidence preparing nutritious meals.
Knowledge of HACCP and food safety procedures.
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred).
A positive attitude with excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently while also being a supportive team player.
Reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food quality.
