Full job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

The primary role of the post holder is to provide clerical and administrative support to the Health Visiting Service.

The post holder will work within clearly defined protocols and procedures, adhering to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde policies, including Health and Safety, Data Protection and Confidentiality.

Following induction and on-the-job training, the post holder will work with a degree of autonomy while receiving support and guidance from the Administrator. Performance will be reviewed through the NHSGGC appraisal process.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a permanent post working 36 hours per week
These hours will be worked Monday Tuesday 08301630; Wednesday Friday 08301600.
You will be based within Springburn Health Centre

Key responsibilities:

You will provide clerical and administrative support to the Health Visiting Service. Maintain accurate records and undertake data entry activities in accordance with departmental procedures.

Use computer systems and office equipment effectively to support service delivery while adhering to established protocols and contribute to the review and development of administrative processes.

Prioritise workload effectively, use initiative where appropriate, and work flexibly as part of a team. Ensure compliance with organisational policies relating to confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, and information governance.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential

Standard Grade English (or equivalent).
Good keyboard skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to follow established protocols and contribute to their review.
Ability to prioritise workload and exercise initiative.
Flexible approach to work.
Competence in the use of computer packages, evidenced through experience or formal qualification.
Knowledge of working within an office environment and operating office equipment and systems.
Good command of spoken and written English.

Desirable

Typing qualification.
Experience of data input.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word.
Previous NHS experience.

Training and Development
New employees will undertake a comprehensive induction and training programme, typically lasting a minimum of four weeks, depending on the department and location. Existing skills and qualifications will be supported through a structured period of orientation and induction to ensure the post holder develops the knowledge required of the organisation, department, systems and processes.
