This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and has experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or horticulture.

About the Role

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for maintaining gardens, grounds, and outdoor spaces across our sites to a high standard. You will work both independently and as part of a team, carrying out a range of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties while ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining gardens, grounds, and outdoor spaces to a high standard
Grass cutting, mowing, strimming, and edging
Hedge cutting, pruning, and shrub bed maintenance
Litter collection and general site cleanliness
Loading and unloading vehicles, tools, and equipment
Supporting waste removal and site clearance activities
Planning and organising daily maintenance tasks
Ensuring all tools and equipment are safe, maintained, and fit for purpose
Following all Health & Safety policies and procedures
Wearing appropriate PPE and promoting safe working practices
Reporting accidents, incidents, and maintenance issues promptly
Representing Best Lives professionally when interacting with colleagues, service users, and members of the public
Supporting the continuous improvement of our grounds and outdoor environments

What We're Looking For Essential

Good standard of English and Maths
Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or horticulture
Experience using grounds maintenance equipment
Good communication and organisational skills
Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physically able to undertake manual outdoor work, including lifting and carrying
Full UK Driving Licence

Experience Using:

Strimmers
Rotary lawn mowers
Cylinder mowers
Ride-on mowers

Desirable

NVQ Horticultural qualification
Experience working within health and social care settings
Additional grounds maintenance or landscaping qualifications
PA1/PA6 Spraying Certificates
