Nursery Practitioner

Wibli Wobli Nursery

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality, nurturing, and inspiring care and education for children, supporting their learning and development through creative, play-based experiences. The Nursery Practitioner will work as part of a passionate team to create a safe, engaging and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Childcare & Learning

Deliver high-quality care and education in line with the Curriculum for Wales and Development Matters (as appropriate).
Plan and provide engaging, creative, and child-led experiences that support all areas of development.
Observe, assess and record children’s progress accurately.
Support each child’s individual needs, interests and next steps.
Promote positive behaviour using a nurturing, respectful approach.

Environment

Create and maintain a stimulating, well-organised learning environment indoors and outdoors.
Ensure continuous provision reflects children’s interests and promotes curiosity and independence.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety at all times.

Relationships

Build strong, professional relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues.
Communicate effectively with families about their child’s progress and wellbeing.
Work collaboratively as part of the Wibli Wobli team, contributing ideas and supporting one another.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children is prioritised at all times.
Attend regular training and staff meetings as required.

Person SpecificationEssential:

Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare Qualification (or above).
Sound knowledge of child development.
A warm, caring and enthusiastic personality.
Creative and proactive approach to planning and play.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.

Desirable:

Welsh speaking or willingness to learn and promote the Welsh language within the setting.
Experience working within a nursery or early years setting.
First Aid and Safeguarding training.
