Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Nursery Lunch Time Cover Assistant to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this role, you will provide essential supervision and care during lunchtime, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children. Your leadership and management skills will help create a positive experience for children during their midday break, supporting their social, emotional, and physical development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic nursery setting.

Duties

Supervise children during lunchtime activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
Assist with mealtime routines, including serving food and encouraging healthy eating habits
Support children in developing social skills through positive interaction and guidance
Maintain a clean and organized dining area, adhering to hygiene standards and health regulations
Communicate effectively with staff, children, and parents to promote a welcoming environment
Manage behavior calmly and confidently, implementing appropriate strategies to support children’s needs
Support nursery staff with additional responsibilities as needed to ensure smooth lunchtime operations

Experience

Previous experience working with children in a childcare or early childhood education setting is highly desirable
Strong management and leadership skills to oversee children’s safety and behavior during busy periods
Knowledge of childcare best practices, health & safety standards, and hygiene protocols
Excellent communication skills in English to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members
Experience working with diverse groups of young children to foster inclusive play and learning environments
Ability to drive is a nice-to-have skill that may assist with transportation or related duties if required
