About Sunflower Home Support

Sunflower Home Support is a friendly, family-run business providing reliable non-medical home support to people in Trowbridge and the surrounding Wiltshire area.

Our services include companionship, shopping and errands, meal preparation, household help, appointments, social outings, respite support and other practical assistance that helps people remain happy, connected and independent at home.

We are now looking for a dependable and experienced person to become a key part of our growing business.

About the role

This is a varied, hands-on position for someone who would like to help shape and grow a developing local business.

During the initial stages, the role will include providing practical support and companionship visits to clients, alongside managing enquiries, completing assessments, setting up new clients and supporting the day-to-day administration of the business.

As Sunflower grows, we would like the successful person to take increasing responsibility for coordinating staff, organising visits and helping to manage our daily operations. There is genuine potential for this position to develop into a more senior operational or care-management role.

The founders will concentrate on promoting Sunflower, developing community and professional relationships and attracting new clients. You will help ensure that clients receive a dependable, professional and caring service.

Key responsibilities

· Undertaking companionship and practical home-support visits

· Responding professionally to new client enquiries

· Meeting prospective clients and their families

· Completing initial assessments and setting up new client records

· Preparing support plans and keeping records accurate and up to date

· Matching clients with suitable team members as the business grows

· Coordinating visits, rotas, staff availability and holiday cover

· Supporting the recruitment, induction and supervision of new team members

· Maintaining regular contact with clients and their families

· Monitoring service quality and responding promptly to concerns

· Completing general administration, emails and telephone calls

· Maintaining confidentiality and following safeguarding procedures

· Helping to develop effective policies, systems and working practices

· Contributing ideas to improve and grow the business

· Supporting Sunflower if it expands into regulated care services in the future

· Being willing to assist with other reasonable duties required within a small and growing business

About you

We are looking for someone who is caring and approachable but also organised, confident and able to take responsibility. You must be comfortable working independently, making sensible decisions and identifying what needs to be done without waiting for constant direction.

This role could suit an experienced care or support professional seeking a new challenge, someone returning to the sector or a person looking for a rewarding position in which they can make a genuine difference.

Essential requirements

· Previous experience in care, home support, health, social care or a closely related service

· Experience coordinating or supervising staff

· Strong administration and organisational skills

· Confidence dealing with clients, families and professionals

· A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Reliable, self-motivated and able to use initiative

· Comfortable contributing ideas and helping a small business develop

· Competent using email, Microsoft Office and electronic record systems

· Living in or close to Trowbridge

· Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle

· Appropriate business-use motor insurance

· Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check

· Satisfactory employment references

· Right to work in the UK

Desirable experience

· Experience as a care coordinator, deputy manager, senior support worker, community-care professional or service manager

· Experience completing client assessments and support plans

· Experience preparing rotas and managing staff availability

· Knowledge of CQC requirements and regulated care services

· Relevant health or social-care qualifications

· Experience recruiting, inducting or supervising team members

· First-aid, safeguarding or medication-awareness training

Pay and benefits

· Guaranteed salary of £300 per week for 21 hours

· 20 days’ paid annual leave each year

· Paid bank holidays that fall on normal working days

· Statutory Sick Pay, with any additional company sick-pay arrangements confirmed in the employment contract

· Mileage paid for authorised business journeys

· Training and development opportunities

· Potential for additional hours as the client base grows

· Opportunity for the role to develop into a senior management position

Working pattern

The role will initially be 21 hours across three agreed days each week. Some flexibility will be necessary because client visits and new-client meetings may occasionally take place at different times.

Any regular additional hours or significant changes to the role will be discussed and agreed in advance.
