Full job description

An established company in the cosmetics and personal toiletries industry, based in Watford, seeking a bookkeeper with experience working in a products-based industry.

Have you started studying for your ACCA / AAT / CIMA? Do you enjoy dealing with clients/suppliers both face to face and on the telephone on a regular basis? Do you want to learn and be a part of a dynamic and exciting international business? If you have answered yes to these then we have the perfect role for you!

The role will involve supporting the Group Accountant in the day to day running of the finance function. We are looking for a, hardworking Bookkeeper to work in our busy office in Watford. Your focus will be to perform bookkeeping duties, maintaining Accounts ledgers, and processing and submitting VAT returns.

We are willing to offer a competitive market salary based on your experience and qualifications. Benefits include a 40 hour working week,22 days annual leave plus bank holidays and annual salary reviews. Car parking on site - would need to drive, study support would also be considered after two years loyal service , experience with Sage and SAP desirable

Day to day responsibilities will include:

Maintaining the purchase ledger including matching, coding, and posting of all invoices

Ownership of the end-to-end supplier process including liaising with operations / sales director to ensure only valid invoices are processed in line with company processes.

Prepare aged debtor and creditor reports for review by the Group Accountant

Preparing and submitting VAT returns

Reconcile all bank accounts, petty cash, and company credit cards.
Raising invoices using POs and delivery notes and managing customer statements

Daily and weekly reconciliation of customer receipts & supplier payments on SAGE Line 50
Reconciling Sales Ledger/Purchase Ledger/Nominal Ledger (including balance sheet reconciliations).

Processing monthly payment runs

Credit control

Provide team cover and other ad hoc duties as requested

The ideal candidate will:

have a good grounding and experience in the above

want to work in a busy but friendly environment,

have a positive, “can do” attitude with a thirst to learn and prosper

have product based experience

Strong attention to detail

Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc)

Sage Line 50
