Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Level 2/3 Care Assistant to provide compassionate support and assistance during daytime hours within a care home environment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents throughout the day. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring care, working within a supportive and professional team.

Support residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
Assist with mealtimes, including serving meals and supporting residents with eating and hydration
Monitor residents’ wellbeing throughout the day, responding promptly to any needs or concerns
Follow individual care plans to deliver tailored support and ensure residents’ needs are met effectively
Engage residents in meaningful activities and provide companionship to enhance their quality of life
Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and observations during your shift
Ensure a safe and clean environment by adhering to health and safety procedures
Support with light domestic duties such as tidying rooms and communal areas
Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and healthcare professionals regarding residents’ wellbeing

Skills

Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with elderly residents, including those living with dementia

A minimum of 12 months’ care experience is required, along with an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).

This role is ideal for individuals committed to providing high-quality care during daytime hours, ensuring residents feel valued, supported, and respected.

A calm, caring, and friendly manner with strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of a team while also using initiative when required
Basic IT skills to accurately record information using electronic systems
Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow care plans attentively
A compassionate attitude with a genuine passion for caring for others
