Overview

IM Group Services Limited is a growing property and asset management business responsible for the financial and operational management of a diverse portfolio of commercial properties across the UK, including shopping centres, retail assets and other property interests. Our finance team works closely with colleagues across the business, centre management teams, tenants, suppliers and professional advisers, so this is a varied role rather than a position focused on repetitive data entry.

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our friendly finance team. This would suit someone who already has practical experience working within an accounts department and is comfortable taking responsibility for their own workload in a busy environment.

Previous Accounts Assistant experience is essential and you MUST have hands-on experience using Sage 50. Applications from candidates without Sage 50 experience will not be considered.

The role will provide exposure to a broad range of finance functions and offers a good opportunity for somebody who wants to develop their accounting career within a supportive and growing business.

Responsibilities

Processing purchase invoices accurately and ensuring they are correctly coded and authorised
Posting supplier invoices, credit notes and payments onto Sage 50
Assisting with supplier payment runs and dealing with supplier account queries
Processing sales ledger transactions and assisting with customer account queries
Carrying out regular bank, supplier and ledger reconciliations
Reviewing supplier statements and investigating discrepancies
Assisting with credit control and the collection of outstanding balances where required
Maintaining accurate accounting records across a number of companies and property-owning entities
Assisting with service charge, insurance and property-related accounting transactions
Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
Assisting with month-end processes, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
Helping with VAT records and providing supporting information for VAT returns
Liaising with colleagues, suppliers, tenants and external advisers to resolve accounting queries
Maintaining accurate filing and supporting documentation for transactions
Assisting the wider finance team with reporting, analysis and ad hoc finance work as required

Experience

Previous experience working as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar hands-on accounts role is essential
Practical working experience of Sage 50 is essential
Experience of purchase ledger and supplier account reconciliation
Experience of sales ledger and credit control would be advantageous
Good understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits and reconciliations
Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
Able to organise and prioritise your own workload and work accurately to deadlines
Comfortable investigating discrepancies rather than simply passing queries on
Good communication skills and a friendly, professional approach when dealing with colleagues, suppliers and customers
Property, service charge or multi-company accounting experience would be useful but is not essential
