This is a full-time (37 hours per week) There are two vacancies each with different shift patterns.
Vacancy 1
Monday – Thursday: 14:00 – 22.00 pm; Friday: 14:00pm - 21:30pm, 52 weeks per year (full year)
Vacancy 2
Monday – Thursday 10.00 - 18.00 and Friday 10.30 - 18.00, 52 weeks per year (full year)
There may be occasions when these hours are varied to meet the needs of the school, for example to cover holidays or illness.
We are looking to appoint a professional, self-motivated, committed and resilient team player to join our school site support staff team. You will ensure the safe, effective and efficient supervision of the site and curriculum & community provisions, in particular that occurring after the normal school working day.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the School is fully operational at the start and end of day (eg, heating systems and toilets are working, etc). Some additional flexibility may be required; on occasion to provide cover within the site staff team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- carrying out routine and reactive maintenance across the school site, including minor building repairs, decorating, painting, and general maintenance tasks.
- use and care of equipment and general preparation of school areas;
- management, maintenance and storage of resources and equipment;
- ensuring appropriate safeguarding and health and safety measures are in place
- contributing to grounds and facility management
- contributing to monitoring of school security systems including intruder and fire alarms
- undertaking site security duties, including opening and locking of the school site

Job Description - Site Maintenance Officer
To whom responsible: School Business Manager
Purpose of Post
Operating within the school’s support staff structure, the post holder will be responsible for site maintenance and for overseeing the security of the premises and its contents; including being the registered key holder.
Principal Duties
You will ensure the safe, effective and efficient supervision of the site and curriculum & community provisions.
- Responding appropriately to communication occurring after the normal school working day including on site enquiries
- Working within the site team to ensure high standards of maintenance, cleanliness, safety, security, presentation, hygiene and cleanliness across the school site including:
- contributing to grounds and facility management, including litter picking and emptying bins
- reporting and responding to damage, hazards, or maintenance issues
- locking up areas if required (doors, windows, alarms)
- ensuring equipment is stored properly
- contributing to monitoring of school security systems including intruder and fire alarms
- Conducting daily monitoring of areas of curriculum and community provision
- Setting up rooms and facilities for events and functions (eg, parents’ evenings, school plays).
- Maintain the school building, including effecting repairs and improvements in order to fulfil the school’s specific responsibilities.
- Discuss with and monitor the work of contractors engaged by school as directed by the site manager and School Business Manager
- Monitor, operate and maintain appropriate site security systems, including opening and closing the building as appropriate
- Maintain and monitor Health and Safety standards, reporting any failures to comply with the school’s statutory obligations in this area and ensure that contractor’s work meets Health and Safety Regulations.
- Carry out portering and facilities management duties (including the moving of heavy furniture) which will secure the most efficient use of resources.
- Receive delivery of supplies, furniture and parcels and ensure their correct distribution.
- Responsibility, daily for locking the school and premises and site and ensuring the operating of security alarms.
- Operating within lone worker guidelines where appropriate.
- To undertake any ad-hoc duties as required to ensure the provision of a quality service for the school.

To take all reasonable steps to ensure the Health and Safety of students and staff within the teaching base environment.
To promote and safeguard the welfare of students in accordance with the school’s child protection policy.
