We have exciting opportunities available for a Learning Support Practitioner (LSP) to join our Horizons team on a permanent and part-time, 33 hpw, term-time only basis.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Learning Support Practitioner-Horizons, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within our Horizons provision. You will provide 1:1, shared in-class and group support to learners with SEMH needs, dyslexia, autism, ADHD, and speech and language needs.

Work under the supervision and guidance of tutors to support students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within Horizons
Provide one-to-one and group support (direct and indirect) for students following foundation courses, primarily within the learning environment
Collaborate with Student Support Advisors and the Youth Worker to support students with SEMH needs and encourage positive engagement and attendance
Use learning support systems to ensure bespoke, individualised support plans are implemented effectively
Support, monitor and track learner progress, attendance, behaviour and completion of vocational activity
Promote inclusive practice and positive learning behaviours within the classroom
Contribute to creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment
Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with curriculum and support teams

What We’re Looking For

A Level 2 qualification or above (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area
Experience of providing effective coaching to students on a one-to-one or group basis to support success and progression
Demonstrable ability to support, monitor and track learner progress, including attendance and behaviour
Experience working with learners with SEN, including SEMH, dyslexia, autism, ADHD or speech and language needs
Proficient IT skills and confidence using digital systems to record and monitor support
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A patient, adaptable and learner-focused approach
Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent)
