About The Millhouse Bistro

The Millhouse Bistro is an all-day dining destination based at Meltham Mills in Huddersfield.

Serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, evening dining and Sunday roasts, we are focused on fresh food, high standards and creating a consistently strong experience for every guest.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team.

You will be responsible for running your section efficiently, preparing and cooking dishes to the required standard and supporting the wider kitchen team throughout preparation and service.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, works well under pressure and understands the importance of consistency, organisation and teamwork.

You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure every dish is prepared, cooked and presented to The Millhouse Bistro’s standards.

Key Responsibilities

Take responsibility for the preparation and operation of an allocated kitchen section
Prepare, cook and present dishes consistently to the required standard
Ensure all mise en place is completed accurately and on time
Follow recipes, specifications and portion controls
Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation
Work efficiently throughout busy service periods
Communicate clearly with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and wider kitchen team
Support other sections when required
Assist with the training and development of junior chefs and kitchen assistants
Ensure food is labelled, dated, stored and rotated correctly
Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the senior kitchen team
Reduce food waste and use ingredients responsibly
Maintain a clean, organised and professional section
Complete cleaning, temperature and food safety records accurately
Follow all food hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures
Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and correctly
Report equipment faults, quality concerns or operational issues
Assist with deliveries, stock rotation and kitchen organisation
Support menu changes, specials and seasonal dishes
Uphold and reflect The Millhouse Bistro’s standards and values at all times

Skills and Experience

Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or experienced Commis Chef
Confident working independently on a kitchen section
Strong food preparation and cooking skills
Good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and health and safety
Strong organisation and time-management skills
Able to work efficiently and remain calm under pressure
Good attention to detail and presentation
Reliable, punctual and professional
Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
