Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our educational team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and enhancing the learning experience for students, particularly those with special educational needs. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the development and progress of children with diverse learning requirements. The HLTA will be responsible for delivering targeted support, fostering an inclusive atmosphere, and assisting in behaviour management. This is a paid position suitable for individuals passionate about education and committed to making a positive impact on students' lives.

Duties

Support classroom teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual student needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
Provide one-to-one or small group tutoring and mentoring to enhance student understanding and engagement.
Assist in implementing personalised education programmes, including for students with autism or other specific learning difficulties.
Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, and other activities to ensure safety and behaviour management.
Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence among all pupils.
Support students with behavioural challenges by applying positive behaviour management strategies.
Contribute to the assessment of student progress and prepare reports as required.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to support holistic student development.
Assist in organising resources and adapting materials to meet individual learning needs.

Qualifications

Proven experience working with children within an educational setting is essential.
Knowledge of special education practices, including working with individuals with disabilities or autism, is highly desirable.
Prior experience tutoring or mentoring students can be advantageous.
Strong communication skills are vital for effective interaction with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
A recognised qualification in supporting teaching or special educational needs (such as CACHE Level 3 or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team within a busy school environment.
Commitment to safeguarding procedures and promoting inclusive education practices.
