Full job description

Full-Time Position (40 hours) - Shifts typically vary between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. Occasional evening shifts may be required depending on business needs.

Your country home away from home, nestled within 12 acres of picturesque Hertfordshire countryside. Sopwell House is a luxurious, family-owned Georgian country house hotel offering timeless elegance and modern comfort. We’re proud to be a place where exceptional service is delivered with warmth, pride and purpose. We’re currently looking for a passionate Painter & Decorator to join our dedicated Maintenance team.

Your role in our family:

Ensure all painting and decorating work is completed to a high standard, following all relevant health and safety guidelines
Work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, carrying out daily duties from the defects logbook
Perform preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring all log sheets and records are kept up to date
Carry out repairs and project work as required
Take full responsibility for completing all assigned jobs to a high standard
Liaise with relevant departments to ensure smooth coordination of works
Minimise disruption to guests at all times while carrying out duties
Report any problems or issues to your manager, or to senior management in their absence

What would make you the perfect fit?

A genuine passion for maintenance, painting & decorating, and delivering high standards of workmanship.
Previous experience in a Painter & Decorator role, ideally within a hotel, commercial, or high-quality environment.
Good knowledge of health & safety practices and safe working procedures.
A proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach to work.
A professional manner with the ability to remain guest-aware and minimise disruption.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a close-knit maintenance team.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.
