Main Purpose of the Role
Front of House Supervisor & Drifty Experiences Coordinator will be a split Front of House/Reception based role, working across five days each week to deliver exceptional customer service while contributing to the smooth day-to-day operation of the business and reception/admin work.
Working closely alongside the Bar Supervisor, Wedding & Events Coordinator and management team, the post holder will help supervise outstanding Front of House operations while assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of entertainment, guest experiences and seasonal events at the Driftwood Spars.
The role will contribute to the continued growth of the business through innovative events, exceptional customer service and operational support across weddings, conferencing, entertainment and seasonal activities.

Key Responsibilities
Front of House Leadership
- Lead by example on the floor to deliver exceptional customer service and hospitality standards.
- Support the Bar Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of their department, helping to maintain excellent service standards across the business.
- Work collaboratively with the Wedding & Events Coordinator and management team to support the planning and successful delivery of entertainment, weddings, conferences and seasonal events.
- Ensure guests receive a consistently positive and memorable Drifty experience.
- Assist with staff training, motivation and development.
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of service.
- Respond professionally and efficiently to guest queries and feedback.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation throughout Front of House areas.
- Take a hands-on approach and support other departments during busy periods where required.
- Support the management team and Bar Supervisor in the development, implementation and ongoing review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), helping to drive consistency, operational efficiency and exceptional guest experiences across the business.
Reception & Administration
- Carryout reception duties including answering the telephone, responding to enquiries and taking bookings.
- Ensure accurate booking management and communication with guests.
- Support administrative duties connected to events and daily operations.
- Assist with rota coordination and operational administration where required.
Events & Experiences Support
- Support the Wedding & Events Coordinator and management team in developing, coordinating and delivering the Driftwood Spars' entertainment and events offering, including (but not limited to):
- Live music
- Funerals/Wakes
- Quiz nights
- Comedy events
- Community events
- Charity events and fundraising initiatives
- Christmas parties
- Faulty Towers dining experiences and other themed events.
- Assist in researching and developing new event opportunities including (but not limited to):
- The Dining Room
- Cliffside Garden
- Conferencing and corporate events.
- Starboard
- Assist with the planning, organisation and delivery of events from concept through to completion.
- Liaise with performers, suppliers and external partners as required.
- Work closely with the Wedding & Events Coordinator and management team to identify opportunities to extend the season and increase revenue.
- Support the promotion and development of the Driftwood Spars brand and guest experience.
Resilience & Handover
- In collaboration with the Assistant Manager, develop and maintain effective event planning processes, documentation and handover procedures to ensure the smooth delivery of events in your absence.
- Ensure all events are supported by clear plans, timelines, preparation notes and operational documentation, enabling colleagues to confidently assist with or deliver events where required.
- Work with the Assistant Manager to build resilience within the team by sharing knowledge, providing guidance and supporting the cross-training of colleagues, ensuring continuity of service and the successful delivery of events at all times.
Financial & Operational Responsibility
- Contribute ideas to maximise profitability and guest engagement.
- Monitor event performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the wider operational needs of the business.
- Adapt duties seasonally, with greater focus on events development during quieter periods.
Working Hours
- 5 days per week.
- Starting rate of pay: £13.00 - £13.20 per hour (dependent on experience & knowledge).
- Shift patterns will vary depending on the needs of the business.
- Weekend and evening work is essential.
- The business aims to operate fair rotas to ensure staff have a balance of weekend time off and evening shifts.
- Typical evening finish times are between 8.00pm and 10.00pm, although occasional later finishes (e.g. 1.00am–3.00am) may be required for specific events or functions.
- Flexibility is required during busy periods including holidays, Christmas and New Year.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience in hospitality, Front of House supervision or events coordination.
- Strong leadership, coaching and collaborative working skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Flexible and adaptable within a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Confident problem-solver with a proactive attitude.
- Passion for hospitality, entertainment and creating memorable guest experiences.

- Willingness to take a hands-on approach across different areas of the business.
Desirable
- Experience organising events, entertainment or community initiatives.
- Knowledge of social media promotion and marketing.

Future Development of the Role
This is a newly created role that reflects the continued growth and ambitions of the Driftwood Spars. As the position develops, responsibilities may evolve in line with the strengths of the successful candidate, business priorities and the ongoing success of the role.
The role will be reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the business and to identify opportunities for the responsibilities to develop, broaden and evolve in line with business requirements, the continued success of the role and the career development of the successful post holder. Seasonal adjustments to responsibilities are anticipated, with a greater focus on developing and expanding the Drifty Experience during quieter trading periods.
