Full job description

We are looking for a confident, motivated and reliable Assistant Manager to support the management team in the day-to-day running of a busy bar and kitchen.

The Assistant Manager will play a key role in leading the team, maintaining high standards of customer service, supporting staff and ensuring the venue operates efficiently throughout every shift.

The ideal candidate will be organised, hands-on and confident making decisions in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Management

Support the Manager with the day-to-day running of the venue.
Lead and motivate the team during busy services.
Delegate tasks effectively and ensure all team members understand their responsibilities.
Support with staff training, onboarding and development.
Monitor staff performance and provide feedback where required.
Ensure staff follow company policies, procedures and expected standards.
Assist with managing staff attendance, punctuality and conduct.
Lead the team when the Manager is not on site.
Support with rotas and staffing requirements when required.

Customer Service

Ensure customers receive a friendly, professional and consistent level of service.
Deal confidently with customer queries, complaints and difficult situations.
Resolve issues quickly and professionally, escalating to senior management where necessary.
Ensure the venue maintains a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
Monitor table service, food service and bar service throughout the shift.

Bar & Kitchen Operations

Oversee the smooth running of service across the bar, kitchen and front of house.
Ensure food and drinks are being served efficiently and to company standards.
Monitor ticket times and communicate with the kitchen and bar teams during busy periods.
Ensure menus, promotions and special offers are being correctly communicated to customers and staff.
Support with stock checks, stock rotation and delivery checks.
Monitor wastage and report any issues to management.
Ensure the venue is clean, organised and presented to a high standard.
Carry out regular checks of the toilets, customer areas, bar and kitchen/front of house areas.
Ensure health & safety, food safety and licensing procedures are followed.

Opening & Closing

Complete opening and closing procedures as required.
Ensure the venue is fully prepared before service.
Complete end-of-shift checks and ensure the venue is left clean, secure and ready for the following day.
Support with cashing up, banking and end-of-day procedures where required.

Events & Busy Periods

Assist with the smooth running of private functions, parties and ticketed events.
Help organise staff and service requirements for events.
Ensure the team are briefed before busy shifts and events.
Take responsibility for the venue during designated events or shifts when required.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality.
Confident leading a team in a busy environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Organised and able to prioritise tasks.
Calm and professional under pressure.
Reliable, punctual and flexible.
Confident dealing with staff and customer issues.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to work evenings, weekends and busy event periods.
A hands-on approach and willing to get involved in all areas of the business.
Good knowledge of food, drinks and hospitality operations.
Professional appearance and attitude.

Key Expectations

The Assistant Manager is expected to lead by example and set the standard for the rest of the team.

You will be expected to:

Support and motivate the team.
Communicate effectively with Managers and staff.
Take ownership of problems and find practical solutions.
Ensure company standards and procedures are followed.
Put the customer experience first.
Be flexible and willing to support all areas of the business when required.

The Assistant Manager is a key member of the management team and will be expected to take responsibility for the smooth running of the venue when the Manager is unavailable.

Pay: £27,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
