Are you an organised and detail-oriented finance professional looking for a rewarding role within the public sector? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Finance Assistant to provide essential financial support within the Education Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of education services while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for:

Processing financial transactions, including orders, invoices, and payments
Maintaining accurate financial records and databases
Assisting with budget monitoring and reporting
Providing administrative support, such as data entry and filing
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations

You will work closely with the SEN & DC Service Business Manager to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial information and support.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Previous experience in a finance or administrative role
Basic understanding of financial processes and principles
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

While not essential, experience working in a public sector or local authority environment would be advantageous.
