Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our busy kitchen team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen environment, ensuring that chefs and kitchen staff can operate efficiently. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a professional culinary setting, suitable for individuals interested in developing their skills in food preparation, cooking, and hospitality. The role involves supporting the smooth running of the kitchen by handling cleaning duties, assisting with basic food preparation, and maintaining hygiene standards in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Washing, drying, and storing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans promptly to ensure a steady supply for kitchen operations
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
Maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards
Supporting the organisation of storage areas by rotating stock and ensuring items are stored correctly
Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in line with environmental policies
Ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed at all times during daily operations
Supporting the kitchen team during busy periods by providing general assistance as required

Experience
While previous experience in a professional kitchen environment is desirable, it is not essential as full training will be provided. Candidates with backgrounds in food preparation or hospitality—such as restaurant experience, hotel work, or culinary roles—will find this position particularly suitable. A keen interest in the culinary arts and a willingness to learn new skills are highly valued. Experience in serving or working within hospitality settings can also be advantageous for understanding customer service standards and teamwork within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability, good organisational skills, and a positive attitude towards working as part of a busy team.
