Credit Control & Payroll Assistant

Location: Leeds
Salary: £26,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday Office/Hybrid

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and organised Credit Control & Payroll Assistant to join our finance team in Leeds. Reporting to the Credit Control Manager, you will support both the credit control function and payroll administration, assisting with cash collection, sales ledger management, payroll documentation, holiday administration, employee payroll queries and maintaining accurate financial and employee records.

Key Responsibilities

· Support all day-to-day credit control activities including collections, reconciliations and aged debt management.

· Resolve customer invoice queries and maintain accurate sales ledger records.

· Assist with month-end reporting and finance administration.

· Process payroll administration including starter checklists, P45s and HMRC documentation.

· Respond to employee payroll queries relating to pay, tax, National Insurance, holiday pay and statutory payments.

· Administer employee holiday requests and maintain accurate holiday records.

· Update payroll records including tax codes, bank details and personal information.

· Support the administration of SSP, SMP, SPP and other statutory payments.

· Liaise with branches and payroll providers to resolve payroll issues.

· Maintain payroll records in accordance with GDPR and company procedures.

· Provide administrative support across the Finance Department.

Skills & Experience

Essential

· Previous experience within finance, payroll or administration.

· Excellent communication and organisational skills.

· Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.

· Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable

· Experience in Credit Control or Accounts Receivable.

· Experience using payroll software.

· Knowledge of HMRC payroll legislation.

· CICM Level 3 and/or CIPP qualification or willingness to work towards.
