Role Description

We are looking for a reliable, practical and people-focused Weekend Driver and Facilities Maintenance Operative to join the Nightingale Hammerson family at Hammerson House.

This varied weekend role plays an important part in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the home by providing safe and reliable transportation services for team members, while also assisting with general maintenance and facilities support across the site.

Reporting to the Facilities and Environment Manager, the successful candidate will help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and colleagues. The role includes transporting team members safely and professionally, carrying out minor maintenance tasks, supporting weekend operational activities and responding promptly to maintenance or facilities requests.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, proactive and able to work flexibly as part of a wider team. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, good practical skills and a genuine commitment to supporting older people within a care environment.

Person Specification

Full clean UK driving licence with no penalty points
Confident and safe driver with a professional approach
Experience carrying out basic maintenance or handyman duties
Good practical problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Reliable, punctual and organised
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities
Understanding of health and safety responsibilities within the workplace
Friendly and compassionate approach towards residents, visitors and colleagues
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Cultural sensitivity towards Jewish traditions and community values

Desirable

Previous experience working within a care home, healthcare or facilities environment
MIDAS training
Basic knowledge of health & safety and safeguarding procedures
