Full job description

We are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant on a casual basis to work in our busy Restaurant, Meadow Croft Kitchen. The vacancy is for a casual, part-time position, which will include some weekend working on a rota basis.

The role will also involve handling and preparing hot and cold food so relevant experience and/or knowledge of food hygiene and safety would be an advantage (although training will be given).

The role of a Kitchen Assistant includes:

Food preparation and cooking, with the ability to work on several items simultaneously.
Undertaking and monitoring food and final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing of cooked items (and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates).
Ensuring correct portion control and adhering to the company allergen procedures.
Working closely with the Head Chef and Supervisors to ensure menu and food consistency/standards.
Ensuring that all food produced in the kitchen meets required quality standards.
General kitchen duties, including washing up, and washing kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and seating areas as required.
Maintaining an understanding and knowledge of health and hygiene practices, allergen awareness, equipment, product and menus.
Receiving and processing deliveries.

Please note that, due to the location of our garden centre, having your own transport is preferred.
